Echoes of the Silk Empire: Tashkent, Bukhara & Samarkand Private Tour

The starting time and overall duration of the tour depend on your arrival in the city.

The program begins with a visit to the: 

• Memorial to the Victims of Political Repression, a place of reflection dedicated to one of the most dramatic periods in the country’s history. 

We will then see the: 

• Tashkent TV Tower (exterior view), a striking symbol of the modern city, followed by the 

• Monument of Courage, commemorating the devastating earthquake of 1966 and the resilience of Tashkent’s residents.

Next, we head to the Old City, home to the historic: 

• Khast-Imam architectural complex, which includes mausoleums, madrasahs, and mosques. Here, at the 

• Center of Islamic Civilization, one of Islam’s most revered relics is preserved - the original Quran of Caliph Uthman.

A highlight of the tour is a ride on the: 

• Tashkent Metro, famous for its distinctive architecture and artistic station designs. We then visit 

• Chorsu Bazaar, the city’s most colorful and lively market, offering a true glimpse into everyday local life.

The tour continues with an exterior view of the Alisher Navoi Opera and Ballet Theatre and a walk through Amir Timur Square, the symbolic heart of the city.

At around 6:00 PM, transfer to the hotel.
Free time for rest or independent exploration.

07:15 - Transfer to Tashkent Central Railway Station.
08:00 - Departure for Bukhara by the high-speed Afrosiyob train. (Travel time: approximately 4 hours).

12:00 - Arrival in Bukhara. Transfer to the hotel.

13:00 - Lunch. After lunch, we begin our guided tour of Bukhara, one of Central Asia’s most atmospheric and historically rich cities.

Bukhara City Tour. The excursion includes visits to:

• Samanids Mausoleum - a masterpiece of early Islamic architecture

• Chashma-Ayub Mausoleum, associated with ancient legends and sacred springs

• Bolo-Khauz Mosque, once the main Friday mosque of the city

• The Ark Fortress, the former residence of the Bukhara emirs

We then explore the monumental Poi-Kalyan Ensemble, which includes:

• Mir-i-Arab Madrasah

• Kalyan Minaret, one of the city’s most iconic landmarks

• Poi-Kalyan Mosque

The walk continues through Bukhara’s historic trading quarters:

• Toki-Zargaron Trading Dome

• Ulugbek Madrasah and Abdulaziz Khan Madrasah

• Telpak-Furushon Trading Dome

• Magoki-Attori Mosque, one of the oldest mosques in the city

The tour concludes at the charming Lyabi-Hauz Ensemble, a lively square surrounded by historic madrasahs and a traditional water basin.

Around 6:00 PM - End of the excursion.
Free time to relax or explore the city independently.

09:00 - Continuation of the Bukhara city tour.

In the morning, we travel outside the historic center to visit:

• Sitorai Mokhi-Khosa, the former summer residence of the Emir of Bukhara, combining Eastern decorative traditions with European architectural influences

• The Memorial Complex of Bahauddin Naqshbandi, one of the most important Sufi pilgrimage sites in Central Asia and a place of spiritual significance.

13:30 - Lunch.

15:00 - Transfer to the railway station.

16:00 - Departure for Samarkand by the high-speed Afrosiyob train.

18:00 - Arrival in Samarkand. Transfer to the hotel.

Free time to relax after the journey or enjoy an independent evening walk in the city.

09:00 - Start of the Samarkand city tour

We begin our exploration with:

• Gur-Emir Mausoleum, the final resting place of the Timurid dynasty, a masterpiece of Central Asian architecture

• Registan Ensemble, Samarkand’s most iconic landmark, including Ulugh Beg Madrasah, Sher-Dor Madrasah, and Tilla-Kari Madrasah

• Bibi-Khanym Mosque, one of the grandest mosques of the Timur era

Next, we take a stroll through the winding streets of the Old City, soaking in the atmosphere and local life.

13:00 - Lunch featuring traditional Samarkand plov, a regional culinary specialty.

14:00 - The tour continues with:

• Ulugh Beg Observatory, an impressive site of medieval astronomy and scientific heritage

• Shahi-Zinda Necropolis, a stunning ensemble of mausoleums and sacred sites

19:00 - Visit the Afrosiyab Archaeological Museum, followed by a walk through the ruins of the ancient city of Afrosiyab

21:00 - Evening visit to Registan Square to enjoy the illuminated facade of the madrasahs, a magical sight as the city lights bring the historic square to life.

09:00 - Continuation of the Samarkand city tour:

• Visit a traditional paper-making workshop, where artisans create paper from mulberry tree branches using ancient techniques

• Visit the "Silk Road Samarkand" Tourist and Cultural Center, a hub for local crafts, culture, and experiences

13:00 - Lunch, followed by a visit to Siab Bazaar, one of Samarkand’s most lively markets, offering fresh produce, spices, and traditional handicrafts.

16:30 - Transfer to Samarkand railway station.
17:30 - Departure for Tashkent by the high-speed Afrosiyob train.

19:50 - Arrival in Tashkent.
Transfer to the hotel and free time for rest or evening walks.
